Many of our local corn farmers have decided to shift their corn crop to cavendish and cardaba because of the abrupt increase of the production inputs. To address this problem, our national government thru the Department of Agriculture has provided assistance to our corn farmers
Our office was able to avail of the GMA-Corn Program 425 bags of hybrid corn seeds; 2,250 packs of Bio-N and 50 bottles of seed treatment for free. The total cost of the program was P747,500.00 and benefited by 850 corn farmers.
GMA RICE PROGRAM
lThis year alone, our office was able to source out a total of P 1,912,560.00 of projects.
lWith the above support funds, our office was able to distribute 1,390 bags of rice certified seeds (inbreed) and 70.5 bags of hybrid seeds and benefited 860 rice farmers.
Distribution of farm inputs through the Local Specific Interventions (LSI) and was availed by 246 rice farmers
Our office also conducted a Farmers Forum on rice stemborer and reproduced suggested planting to evade high pest population.
SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD PROJECT FOR THE POOR IN SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES (SLPPSP)
lThis is a livelihood component of the InFRES projects in our municipality. Its fund source is from the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR).
lIt was implemented by an NGO, the Agri-Aqua Development Coalition (AADC), in coordination with the LGU.
lThe total project cost given to us amounted to P 2,445,067.42. It is composed of three (3) sub- projects namely, the Sustainable Agriculture Natural Farming System (SANFAS)- Integrated Goat Raising Project, Integrated Hog Raising Project and Carabao Support Project.
During the implementation process of the projects, MAGRO assisted the AADC in the provision of basic technical knowledge in livestock raising, monitoring, and feasibility evaluation of the identified projects.
