The Municipal Government of Kapalong will develop a 4.5 hectares resettlement site in Sitio Ilaboon, Barangay Maniki, this town with a total project cost of P7.5 million. Out of the said 4.5 hectares local government owned land, 2.0 hectares is allocated for Gawad Kalinga Housing Project and the remaining 2.5 hectares will be intended for the relocation of households occupying the government owned lot in Barangay Maniki.
To commence the project the local government appropriated an initial budget of P2.2 million for the GK site. The project will take off with a ground breaking thru an initial building/construction of two housing units funded by the local government at P85,000 per unit on April 29. The first 30 household beneficiaries will join the Municipal and Provincial Officials and GK Provincial and Municipal Officers in the said ground breaking. Mayor Edgardo L. Timbol assures the beneficiaries that they will be provided with light and water facilities. A drainage system is also considered as flood control structure.
On the other hand, about 330 households will benefit the resettlement project of the local government. A lease-to-own scheme is the strategic approach presented by the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Engr. Alvin D. Agayan for beneficiaries within the 2.5 hectares resettlement site.
“Barangay Maniki is allocating P400,000 pesos for the construction of Day Care Center in the resettlement community to support the needs for education”, said ABC President/ Maniki Barangay Captain Marites R. Timbol during the meeting of Task Force Pabahay Technical Working Group on April 4, 2008.
