Mayor Edgardo L. Timbol and Vice Mayor Romy C. Estrada of this town along with the rest of the local officials initiated recently the blessing and inauguration of the Kapalong Town Square development amounting to 25M.
This another breakthrough in the history of Kapalong in terms of infrastructure development which is expected to be completed in 229 calendar days is indeed a manifestation that the present administration is keeping its vow of bolstering advancement for the municipality that would eventually bring out greater opportunities for the people.
The sourced out 25M budget includes the construction of auditorium building, the main, south and north gates, concreting and installation of grilled fence to include landscape works for the fortress, amphi-theater and sculpture, electrical and drainage works, and other horticulture works.
“The Kapalong Town Square would serve as the center of recreation and entertainment for our people and we are all excited to see its realization few months from now,” Mayor Timbol said.
The Mayor also bared that the inauguration of the construction of the 6.8M abattoir which he believed would be the best slaughterhouse in Davao del Norte per state of the art perspective developed by the LGU’s architect, Salverdino B. Salcedo, along with the construction of the 15M urban drainage system is soon to take place.
He also said that the construction of the new slaughterhouse would improve the LGU’s Public Market services and further added that he is optimistic, that with the development of the urban drainage system the drainage problem in the poblacion would be definitely addressed.
“Had it not with the support of our people, these big projects would not be realized. Let us therefore continue to show our concern by doing our responsibility as citizens of this community. Let us pay our taxes promptly,” the Mayor stressed.
On the other hand, it was learned that for his second term of governance, the Mayor discouraged increasing of taxes; instead, he urged the tax collecting agency of the local government to intensify their tax collection campaign strategies to be able to generate more collection. (cj-MIO Kapalong)

Kapalong acquires new fire truck
The people of Kapalong are in merriment seeing another remarkable development in the municipality as a brand new Isuzu firefighting truck with 1,000 gallon capacity was turned-over by the Bureau of Fire Protection ROXI in a ceremonial turn-over and blessing held at the Kapalong Municipal Hall compound last Monday, May 24, 2010.
Rev. Fr. Noel Refamonte, the Parish Priest administered the said blessing and was ensued with the turn-over of the symbolic key to Mayor Timbol by Supt. Samuel J. Miralles, ARD on Admin Operation of the Bureau of Fire Protection Region XI. Mayor
Timbol subsequently turned-over the same key to Insp. Armando D. Agocoy, the Municipal Fire Marshall.
The 9M fire fighting engine is part of the sustained modernization program for the Bureau of Fire Protection under the umbrella of the Department of the Interior and Local Government boosting the firefighting manpower of local fire bureaus.
“This is the fruit of our long wait and frequent follow-ups at the DILG Central Office coupled with the support of the provincial officers of both the DILG and BFP and of course the rest of the local officials who are always behind my endeavors,” Mayor Timbol said.
He then commended BFP Provincial Fire Marshal, Supt. Wilberto Rico Neil A. Kwan Tiu who accompanied him at the DILG Office in Manila to personally follow-up and facilitate the release of the fire truck donation.
He further stressed that the people of Kapalong are greatly overwhelmed of such achievement knowing that after more than 30 years, Kapalong has again acquired a brand new firefighting engine which eventually a manifestation of their security and safety against fire related incidents as the presence of the new fire truck depicts the municipality’s fire fighting capability in responding fire emergencies and other related catastrophes.
It was learned that the old fire truck which is presently undergoing major repair was acquired during the incumbency of the late Mayor Porferio F. Royo, the mayor’s father- in- law way back in 1981. Mayor Timbol added that he was even with the former mayor in transacting the release of the fire truck.
The new fire truck is equipped with complete accessories, repair and maintenance tools, other auxiliary equipment and sets of fire fighting gears. The Mayor urged the BFP Kapalong force to give extra care to the unit to ensure long-lasting usage. He also bared that he will push for the allocation of additional budget for the completion of the BFP new building. (cj-MIO Kapalong)
Kapalong has brand new ambulance
Hon Edgardo L. Timbol of this town recently announced during the flag raising ceremony, the LGU’s another remarkable accomplishment under his administration.
A brand new FOTON ambulance worth P890,000. has been acquired thru the PCSO-LGU 60-40 Procurement Program scheme. With such sharing arrangement, the LGU has only paid P356,000 out of local funds.
Mayor Timbol stressed that he did not care that he was alone doing all the transaction and even waited that long at the PCSO central office because his effort was not in vain.
The new ambulance is equipped with oxygen, first aid materials, sphygmomanometer, respirators for young and adult, stethoscope, medical regulator and fire extinguisher. “This unit indeed would be a big help to us because it will augment the 1 million ambulance purchased last year in transporting patients who need immediate medical treatment at the nearest hospital”, Mayor Timbol said.
The mayor added that aside from transporting patients, the ambulance could also be used as transportation of the medical team in conducting medical outreach program in the different barangays of the municipality and because there is an additional unit, it would be possible already that all barangays specially in distant areas will be catered with such health services.
On the other hand, he reported that he made an effort to visit the BFP National Office at the Department of the Interior and Local Government main office to be able to follow-up his request of one unit fire truck for the municipality.
“The municipality’s fire truck acquired during my father in-law’s time, the late Mayor Porferio F. Royo is no longer serviceable. As a first class and growing municipality, it is really imperative to have even one”, Mayor Timbol bared.
He added that he is hoping that the higher authorities would be true to their promise and would really look into the realization of such property and life saving vehicle need of his people. (cj-MIO Kapalong)

Establishment of Barangay Gupitan Reading Center
Mayor Timbol along with First Lady ABC President Tess Timbol and SB Member Rowell Selim personally visited Brgy. Gupitan, the first priority barangay in Kapalong established with a barangay reading center under the Timbol-Estrada administration.
